Today's update brings two important improvements: Two-factor authentication (2FA) for additional account protection and a much faster inspection equipment search via barcode scanner. Additionally, various translations have been updated.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

The security of your data is our top priority. That's why we now offer the option to secure your Memida account with two-factor authentication.

Why enable 2FA?

With two-factor authentication, you need a time-limited code in addition to your password. This code is generated by an authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy). Even if your password is compromised, your account remains protected.

Recommendation

We recommend that at least all administrators enable 2FA. Administrators have access to sensitive settings, user management, and master data, so additional protection is particularly important.

How to enable 2FA

  1. Open your user profile (click your name in the top right corner).
  2. Navigate to General > Security.
  3. Click Enable two-factor authentication.
  4. Scan the displayed QR code with your authenticator app.
  5. Enter the generated code to confirm.

After setup, you will be asked for the additional code at every login.

You can now enter the content of the DataMatrix codes on your inspection equipment labels directly in the search bar and immediately find the matching equipment.

Practical Use with Barcode Scanner

This means: With any standard barcode scanner that uses a keyboard interface (most USB and wireless scanners), you can now:

  1. Open the Memida search (e.g., via the search field or keyboard shortcut).
  2. Scan the DataMatrix code on the inspection equipment label.
  3. The scanner automatically enters the code content into the search.
  4. You go directly to the detail page of the inspection equipment.

This is particularly useful when working from the master data sheet of a device and you want to quickly access the corresponding inspection equipment in Memida.

Improved Translations

Additionally, various translations in the user interface have been revised and updated. This applies to both the German and English language versions. The changes ensure clearer terminology and more consistent wording throughout the application.
