Updates and help
The update status appears next to the version in the app footer. Under Settings → General, you can check for and install updates.
If the update check fails, local features remain available. You do not need to set up the app again.

Upgrade from 0.4.x
If you still use 0.4.x, download the current version, 0.5.0 or later, once from the download page. Quit the app and install the package for the same environment according to the installation guide. The old app cannot retrieve this version upgrade itself. From 0.5.0 onwards, further approved updates are offered within the app again.
Check for updates
- Open Settings → General.
- Under App updates, select Check for updates (1) or Check again.
- Complete any sealing operations in progress.
- Select Update now when the update is offered.
On macOS and with the Linux AppImage, the app restarts afterwards. On Windows, the installer opens; start the app yourself after it finishes. On Linux, the AppImage must have been started from a folder you can write to. The installation guide also explains how to switch from an existing DEB package.
The app checks for updates at startup and before new Memida requests. You can postpone recommended updates. Required updates block new Memida requests; local files, certificates, backups and help remain accessible.
Find version information
The installed version appears in the app footer (2).
Settings → About the app shows Version, Build number and Environment. Have these details ready for queries from your IT administrator.
Open manual in the footer takes you to the documentation. Change the language and appearance under Settings → General. The language selection applies only to this device, not to your Memida account.
Troubleshoot common issues
| Message or situation | Next step |
|---|---|
| Could not check for updates | Check your internet connection, then select Check again. Local features remain available. |
| The update could not be installed | On Linux, check write permissions for the AppImage and its folder. Try again or contact your IT administrator. Certificates are preserved. |
| Linux requires an AppImage for updates | Start the complete AppImage file from your user folder. A separately extracted binary is not eligible for automatic updates. |
| Matching company certificate missing | Import the certificate configured in Memida and restart the request there. |
| A local file cannot be sealed | Read the reason under Results and check the file format and size. |
| Revocation status cannot be determined reliably | Check Revocation list evidence, your internet connection and computer time. Revocation status remains unresolved until verification is complete. |
| App password forgotten | Use your recovery key. |
| Stored app data cannot be opened | Use the recovery screen to import an intact backup from the same environment. |
| No clear completion confirmation from Memida | Check the process status in Memida before trying again. |
If the app could not save data reliably, restart it before continuing. If the error persists, note the message, version and environment for your IT administrator.
