Create and use DAkkS eAttestations

With Memida, you can create calibration certificates as eAttestations: Memida Signing seals them locally, and Memida stores them with the inspection equipment. This requires a valid D-Trust seal certificate containing the digital accreditation symbol approved by DAkkS.

You can also seal DCCs and supported PDFs from other systems locally.

What defines an eAttestation

An eAttestation is an electronic confirmation from an accredited body, sealed with the digital accreditation symbol. The certificate contains machine-readable information about the body and its accreditation. DAkkS explains the digital accreditation symbol.

An eAttestation can be a DCC in XML format or a PDF. The key requirement is the digital accreditation symbol in the seal.

The reported activity must fall within the valid scope of accreditation and be permitted for the symbol used. The issuing body is responsible for this assessment. The DAkkS FAQ explains its use.

Use Memida Signing for free

Local sealing and seal verification are free and available without a Memida account. You do not need a certificate of your own for verification.

You apply and pay for the digital accreditation symbol and certificate separately. The DAkkS application process lists the requirements and costs.

Apply for a digital accreditation symbol

With valid accreditation, apply to the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle (DAkkS) for permission to use the symbol. The next steps are digital identity, registration with D-Trust and the certificate application. After DAkkS approval, D-Trust provides the certificate and key material. The DAkkS application process describes the steps and documents.

In Memida Signing, select Add certificate (1) and import the issued .p12 file using the certificate password (PIN). For Memida requests, also configure the certificate for your company in Memida. Follow the setup and certificate management guides.

Create and use eAttestations with Memida

For calibration certificates from Memida:

  1. Create and review the calibration certificate with measurements, results and required information.
  2. Select Seal and complete to hand it over to the app.
  3. Review the document and certificate, then approve sealing. The private key stays local.
  4. Wait for completion: Memida checks the sealed XML and creates the PDF representation.

The seal belongs to the XML file; the PDF representation does not receive a separate PDF seal. With seal verification, you can examine existing DCC and PDF seals and save a record.

Seal with Memida explains the details. Use local sealing for external files.

Interpret verification results

Memida Signing evaluates the signature, certificate trust and revocation status separately. To check the current revocation status, enable the online check using certificate revocation lists (CRLs).

Verification confirms neither the accuracy of the content nor the scope of accreditation or past validity. Local sealing does not add a trusted timestamp. Verify seals explains the scope of verification.
